PASTOE has never made furniture in response to fashion or trends, but a strong commitment to simplicity, quality in craftsmanship, and the search for timeless design. It even says so in their name. PASTOE, taken from ‘passe partout’ became their principle of never following fashionable trends and instead be a unique leader in modern Dutch design. While characteristics like minimal simplicity, radical restraint, and modular functionality struggled to catch on with the general public in the company’s early years, they would eventually become hallmarks of the brand PASTOE would be associated with, indefinitely.
